Indigenes of FCT have decried the recent increase in insecurity in the FCT, particularly in the Abuja south. Speaking to journalist over the weekend, the spokesperson coalition FCT indigenous associations Comrade Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf registered a complain on the recent activities regarding insecurity in the FCT.
He said “over the last 6 months, the record of crimes in our rural communities is increasing rapidly, from armed robbery, to kidnapping, to Fulani herdsmen attack; and so on these issues should be address seriously.
The occurring vices which recently led to the death of a renowned Rev. Father Akawu who hails from Tokulo village of Bwari Area CouncilAbuja and until his death he was an Assistant Parish Priest of Catholic Church Dobi Gwagwalada Area Council are fast becoming a day to day activities in our land.
Rev. Father Akawu was shot dead by armed robbers around the popular park Road Gwagwalada. The robbers robbed between 7am and 9am. A police man whose name is yet to be known was also shot. Park road is the business den of Gwagwalada Area Council.
“on-behalf of the Indigenes of FCT, we plead with the minister Alh. Muhammad Musa bello and all area council chairmen to put in place local security mechanism (local vigilante) to help curb this outrageous vices from FCT”
The FCT minister’s utmost priority and responsibility is supposed to be the safety and security of the Indigenes and Residents of FCT, we urge him not to forget that mandate, and he should pay more attention to these issues.
He also added that the people that have been affected with these vices in one way or the other should be strong, that peace will be restored in the disturbed areas knowing that he believes in the competence of the FCT minister.
