The youths of FCT natives under the auspices of Coalition of FCT Indigenous Associations, appeals to the Hon. Minister of FCT to appoint FCT natives especially the youths to vacant political positions as the political appointees in the FCTA resigns to enable them pursue their political ambitions as the 2019 general election is fast approaching.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf who also doubles as the Buhun Barkonun Abuja state that “You may recall that on the 28th of August 2018, the Hon. Minister of FCT through the permanent Secretary of Federal Capital Territory Administration issued a circular directing all the political aspirants who are interested in aspiring 2019 general election who presently holds political office in Federal Capital Territory Administration to resign from their current positions to enable them pursue their political aspirations”.
In view of the above, this group appreciate and commend the Hon. Minister, Alhaji Musa Bello for appointing FCT Natives in his cabinet. In fact, we are not oblivious that this present administration of FCT led by Musa Bello have recorded more political and elevated civil service appointment of FCT natives. As we express optimism that these remarkable political gestures continues, we appeal to the political and moral conscience of the Hon. Minister of FCT and the leadership of FCTA to appoint vibrant Original Inhabitants of FCT to replace and fill the resigned and vacant positions especially the offices hitherto occupied by the natives and the most strategic once such as Mandate Secretaries for Education and Health.
We express concern on these sections because, just like any other society, health and education are germane to the socioeconomic, political and education development and well being of the Original Inhabitants of FCT, hence, the secretariats required to be manned by technocrats who are FCT natives and understands the dynamics and complexities of the sections not only in the city center but also at the grassroot.
“In anticipation of positive reaction and response to this appeal, we thank the Hon minister and express our commitment and support to his administration as the FCT natives are carried along” Yunusa stated.
