The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has pledged to reposition FCT fish farm estate, located in Bwari Area Council, to enable it realize the objective of boosting fish production and offering employment opportunities.
Speaking during familiarization visit tour of the estate at weekend, FCT Minister of State Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyah, noted that the Fish Farm Estate when completed, would will also improve nutritional intake for residents and serve as source of income for beneficiaries.
She explained that the Fish Farm Estate was intended booast fish production and to meet the ever-growing demand for fish consumption within and outside the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Earlier, the Director Administration and Finance Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) Mr. Ibe Prospect Chukwuemeka disclosed that contract have already been awarded for the provision of all other necessary infrastructure such as electricity, access road, drainage, adequate security and fencing of the entire estate.
Also speaking the Director of fisheries department in the secretariat, Mrs. Ifeoma Okeke, revealed that the secretariat has given marching orders to all the contractors concerned to immediately mobilise to site and to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract agreement.
