Security officers have detained a suspected political party agent found with over ₦25.9 million in cash, allegedly intended to influence the outcome of Saturday’s by-elections in Kaduna State.
The individual, identified as Shehu Aliyu Patangi, was reportedly arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday at a well-known hotel along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis by a joint team of Nigerian Police and Department of State Services (DSS) personnel, in coordination with other security operatives.

The spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, stated on Saturday that security operatives recovered a total of ₦25,963,000 from the suspect. The money is suspected to have been set aside to bribe voters during the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency election.
DSP Hassan explained that Patangi confessed during interrogation that the money was intended for bribing eligible voters and pleaded for leniency.
