
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration is determined to reposition the agricultural sector in the FCT to ensure sustainable food security.
The Mandate Secretary for FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Lawan Kolo Geidam, made this commitment while receiving briefs from the various departments within the Secretariat. Geidam stressed the importance of synergy among these departments to achieve the common goals of the Secretariat, which are aligned with the agricultural development agenda of the present administration.



Geidam recognized the interconnection of activities among the departments and emphasized that their collective efforts are essential for boosting food production and transforming the agricultural sector into a significant source of employment and wealth creation for the growing population.

He noted that working in isolation would not lead to the desired outcomes and stressed the necessity of collaboration and cooperation among the departments for the overall benefit of the residents of the FCT.
He stated, “The activities of the Departments are interwoven. All are geared towards not only boosting food production but making the sector a viable source of job and wealth creation for our teeming population, and we cannot achieve this in isolation; all the departments must work in synergy to achieve this objective.”
Geidam expressed confidence that the challenges outlined during the briefings are surmountable, given the priority that the administration is giving to the agricultural sector. He also acknowledged the progress made by the various departments and called on civil servants to demonstrate sincerity and diligence in their work.
The Mandate Secretary mentioned the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, supported by the Hon. Minister, FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, in addressing these challenges.
