
FMC Keffi, located in Nasarawa State, has expressed deep apprehension over nine unclaimed bodies in its mortuary and has firmly announced its intention to conduct a mass burial within the next two weeks.
Our correspondent has gathered that a portion of these deceased individuals was placed in the hospital’s morgue in 2021 and remains unclaimed by any family members. Furthermore, additional bodies were brought in during 2022.
The authorities of FMC Keffi have emphasized that these corpses now exceed the legally allowed six-month timeframe as per existing regulations.
In an official statement issued by Esther Bature, the Public Relations Officer of FMC Keffi, it was disclosed yesterday that the hospital’s administration has resolved to proceed with a mass burial if no family members come forward to claim these bodies.

“The management of the medical center has opted for this deadline due to the fact that some of the corpses arrived in 2021, and others came in 2022, thus surpassing the legally permitted six-month timeframe. Consequently, we urge members of the public who lost their loved ones during the mentioned periods to please visit the hospital’s morgue for potential identification and claiming of the bodies,” she stated.
