Maikalangu recognized and commended the efforts of all frontline workers “who work tirelessly in the ongoing fight against tax looters and illegal tax collectors have worked.
Maikalangu lamented that illegal tax collectors had pressured the council over the years over their selfish interest, but said his government had been battling the tax pandemic since he took office. He also urged citizens not to make cash payments or transfer income to accounts held by individuals or entities to avoid double tax payments.
He added that the fight was not over and urged AMAC residents to continue reporting revenue payment issues to AMAC’s newly created Revenue, Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement Task Force via the following phone numbers: 09162410000 or 09162450000. “I recognize and applaud the efforts of all dedicated AMAC employees who have risked everything to secure the Council’s revenues without forgetting our security forces. DSS, the Police, Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corps, Marshal AMAC and others for their support throughout,” Maikalangu said.
He added that preventing or blocking the spread of revenue losses will ensure consistency in wage payments and infrastructure development in rural areas.
Maikalangu also revealed that his government inherited and settled the wages owed by the previous government and since then, as part of his government’s policy, assumes that workers should not be indebted for any reason.
He called on unions to work with the government and engage in dialogue to resolve trade disputes, and assured AMAC would take all necessary steps to ensure staff were well motivated and able to provide council residents with the best possible service to provide services. He also assured AMAC staff that the administration was committed to promoting their well-being and asked for their cooperation and commitment to service, adding that AMAC, and indeed the nation, is reaching its full potential without dedicated, dedicated and patriotic employees cannot reach.
