This was contained in a Press Statement he personally signed and made available to the media in Abuja, Tuesday.
Adesola noted that Eid-el-Kabir commemorates the great virtue of obedience, sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace of Allah be upon him), and enjoined Nigerians, especially Muslims to make sacrifice as Hallmark for the growth and development of our nations Capital and the country at large.
The Permanent Secretary urged Muslims to take advantage of this period of sacrifices to pray for the Territory to enjoy peace and progress.
His words: “On behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), it is my privilege to convey my sincere prayers and well wishes to residents of the FCT, especially the Muslim Ummah on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir”.
He explained that the Eid-el-Kabir as a Festival of Sacrifice, holds great significance as it teaches the values of selflessness, compassion, and the importance of sharing our blessings with those in need.
“During this festive period, let us come together as a community to express gratitude for the countless blessings bestowed upon us. As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we are fortunate to live in a diverse and harmonious society, where people from various backgrounds and cultures coexist in harmony. Our unity in diversity is a testament to our collective strength and resilience,” he reiterated.
Adesola asked residents to embrace the true spirit of Eid-el-Kabir by extending kindness and generosity to fellow residents, by reaching out to the less fortunate, to ensure that no one is left behind.
“Let us also use the opportunity provided by this festival to pray for our country Nigeria and our leaders at all levels of government. Let us pray for peace and the economic prosperity of all our people,” he emphasized.
Adesola remarked that as residents of the FCT, they should be reminded that we have an obligation to keep alive the dreams of the founding fathers of Abuja, as a symbol of Nigeria’s unity and strength; adding, “let us play up those values that tend to unite us and shun those that encourage disunity and division”.
He also reminded the residents to observe the necessary public health and security protocols, while celebrating this joyous occasion, especially as it pertains to environmental sanitation and traffic regulations.
